Lightbulb Uploading Images on Forum

Dear Members,

You can upload you images on the Galleries and Sample Images category of the forum. For uploading images, we would encourage you to use the following method instead of the attachment option:
  1. Upload you image to Flickr
  2. Go to Your Photostream
  3. Click on the image to open it
  4. Click on the All Sizes option above the image
  5. Now you will get different size options for the image
  6. You can choose the size of image you want to display. Medium size is generally preferred
  7. Below the photograph, you get two text boxes.
  8. Select the one under 'Grab the photo's URL' headline. This will generally have a .jpg extension
  9. Copy this link and paste it on your message in sp forum between [IMG] and [/IMG] tags
  10. Then your code will look like [IMG] <YOUR URL> [/IMG]
The URL to be copied is marked with a red rectangle:

Though the attachment option would be available for the time being, we strongly recommend that members use the above option to display the images.

Does the preferred method apply to any photo site other than Flickr, say Usefilm also?

Yes. Any image hosting site that provides you with a link for the image will do. But the link should end in the extension of the original image, not .php, .html etc. For example, http://www.abc.com/xyz.jpg is a valid url since it ends with .jpg extension.

Procedure sounds methodical, however what about those who doesn't have Flicker ID as well as yahoo ID. I am forced to open Yahoo account as Flicker doesn't accept independent sign up.

As we said before, you can upload the images from image hosting site (that provides a valid URL for the image). And I am sure it is a small pain signing up for such a service since we are using a third party forum, and not one specifically designed by us. This is the usual method for photography forums, and it is not part of Smart Photography's policies.
